Guy Buttery to Tour Southern Africa with Alhousseini Anivolla (Niger)

Alhousseini Mohamed Anivolla met Guy Buttery in 2009 for the first time at “Guitafrika”, which featured African´s best guitarists. Linked with a very strong musical connection, they recorded a demo CD soon after and performed together at the Samesma festival in Mauritius in December 2009. Alhousseni and Guy will be touring Southern Africa in May/June this year.

Be sure to expect a highly creative show with new compositions from both sides and some collaborative work, world class guitar and vocal performing.

Alhousseini Mohamed Anivolla is lead guitarist and singer of the world renowned desert blues band, Etran Finatawa. They were last in the region in 2009 for an extremely sucessful South African tour. Since 2004, Alhousseini has been constantly touring around the world, to date performing in 44 countries all around the globe. All three of his band’s albums were produced by World Music Network in London and have been highly acclaimed by international press. Over these past 9 years, Alhousseini has had the opportunity to meet and perform with famous musicians from around the world. He has jammed with Chicha Libre from L.A., Colin Bass UK, The Dhol Drummers, Eric Triton (Mauritius), Guy Buttery and Steve Newman South Africa, Andrew Bird (USA) and Malebo Mothema  (South Africa).

in 2011 he decided to start a solo career alongside his ongoing work with Etran Finatawa.  The result is his internationally acclaimed solo album “Anewal” (World Music Network).  Anewal “The walking man” is Alhousseini´s diary of his personal journey from the desert to the city, to the world stage and back again.
